Change is part of life that is always happening. Be comfortable with searching for truth and be open to the possibility of it changing you. I let go of Fear as a control factor and continued to work on finding myself and the direction I want to go. It felt good to be moving in my direction and letting go of things in my Bubble that was only important to others, but not to me. I found some support from certain family members, but parents and some aunts and uncles were not open to my changes and direction I was going. There were professors and former clergy who worked at the University that I trusted and felt accepted by regardless of my looks and questions I had about religion and God. My appearance also changed as I liked long hair and decided to grow it again (Being a product of the 60’s).

I began to sense some resistance to my changing ideas and beliefs. My perceptions and beliefs were being challenged and I found it necessary to start letting some beliefs go. My favorite classes were: philosophy, anthropology, and psychology. It continued with I returned home and started working on a BS degree in Psychology. This was a beginning of looking in more depth into my culture and Bubble. It started when I left my home town and State for a couple of years to do volunteer work back East. I remember in my early twenties starting his journey related to the Bubble I was born in. This process can take us to a place of realizing that you are not the person you thought you were today. Meaningful learning will bring changes to our beliefs, understanding, and knowledge of our self and our objectives. All of which will need to be examined and possibly challenged as to its truthfulness. This works through having more understanding about the world around you which includes our culture and core beliefs. Don Juan other say that ’Knowledge is Power”. The first tools are essential to develop and use daily for rest of your life. There are several tools which help with coping with and getting past the fear of leaving your Bubble. I will share some personal examples of my process of escaping my Bubble. The four enemies are: Fear, Clarity, Power, and Old Age. As you make decisions about leaving your Bubble you need to face these four enemies that will be obstacles you’ll need to overcome in order to accomplish escaping your Bubble.

Carlos’s teacher, Don Juan, explains “that the man of knowledge must overcome four sequential challenges”. Don Juan defined it as, “a person who lives an examined life and through stages of awareness, connection, and ego dissolution”. In the book, “The Teachings of Don Juan”, by Carlos Castaneda, he describes what being a “Man of Knowledge” is. This Blog will focus further on how to leave your Bubble and what the Four Enemies are to making changes in your life to be congruent with who you are.
